How to connect Skype to 3CX [Part 1]




3CX installed on PC and Skype installed on the same PC.


We have 3CX <> SIPTheeSkype <> Skype Client <> Skype Network.







Notice that you may set up SIPThee Skype on different machine, but SIPTheeSkype and Skype client must be installed on the same PC. You can also run SIPTheeSkype on Linux box...




So we need SIPTheeSkype http://www.mhspot.com/siptheeskype_download.php

Java Environment http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

and the latest Skype client


The screenshots are based on Russian Skype and Windows versions but do not fear


Creating 3CX to Skype trunk


1. In 3CX create new VoIP provider. VoIP Providers > Add Provider


Name of Provider - I choose Skype

Choose a provider - Generic SIP Trunk

SIP Server hostname or IP - 127.0.0.1

SIP Server Port - 5070 Notice that!

External Number - in my 3CX configuration it was 10008

Authentication ID - 10008 (my case)

Authentication Password 10008 Remember these number, ID and password. We will use them in SIPTheeSkype configuration!

Maxmum simultaneous calls - 1 Skype client cannot support more than one call at time


You can also create outbound rule, but I will not create it now.


In Advanced settings for VoIP Provider Skype

Check Supports Re-Invite and Supports 'Replace'

Uncheck PBX Delivers Audio

Set Require registration for to Do not require




Important addition to 3CX trunk settings. In Advanced set Require registration for to Do not require.





If it not set to Do not require the trunk will fail after some time.


The VoIP line is ready.


2. Unzip SIPTheeSkype in folder siptheeskype as author recommends. I used C:\siptheeskype

Copy contents of child samples folder (c:\siptheeskype\samples) to siptheeskype root.


3. Now we need to configure SIPTheeSkype SIP Server. In Notepad open file siptheeskype.cfg in siptheeskype folder.


Search for strings

This means: 3CX from URI sip:10008@127.0.0.1:5060 must register on SIP server (VoIP provider) SIPTheeSkype, sending request to sip:10008@127.0.0.1:5070 with username and password. The SIP port number of SIPTheeSkype obviously must be different from 5060 to avoid conflict with 3CX installed on the same machine. By default it 5070.


Also I advise to disable unnecessary codecs.


Comment out

4. Now we need to config SIPTheeSkype dialing rules (or Dialplan, or Address Book as it called in some VoIP hardware).


Open SipToSkypeAuth.props file and set SIP to Skype dialing rules. Comment out bottom line in the file and insert

This rule means that SIPTheeSkype will receive calls from all network (only internal network, I hope ) clients and simply pass dialed number (calleeid) to the Skype. In the Skype interface you must assign this number to some Skype buddy. I will explain this later.


Open SkypeToSipAuth.props file and set Skype to SIP dialing rules. Comment out bottom line in the file and insert

This rule means that SIPTheeSkype will receive calls from any Skype user, and transfer it on SIP URI sip:10008@127.0.0.1:5060, i.e. on 3CX line 10008.


Of course, you can set another dialplan rules according to you needs, but I used the most universal.


5. Now start Skype and after that start SipTheeSkype_win.bat. You will see Skype message that java.exe want to use Skype. Allow it.








Now be sure to allow it second time in the Skype interface.







Only after that switch to window where SipTheeSkype_win.bat is running ant notice succefull registration ( i.e. 3CX is registered on SIPTheeSkype) and other helpful information.







Testing 3CX to Skype trunk


First of all the SipTheeSkype_win.bat must be running all the time while trunk exists.


Lets define that we use 3CX with two digit numbers (two digit dialplan) and assign to Skype Extensions (our Skype users) numbers from 50 to 59.

So I created outbound rule stating that all two digit calls starting from 5 must go to the Skype gateway.





Also I assigned Speed Dial Number 55 to Skype Test Call in the Skype interface.

Now you can dial 55 on you SIP hardphone and hear clear and loud Skype Test woman greeting! Notice - the sound must be nice and clear, but not distorted.




Also dial from another Skype account to you Skype Trunk account. If inbound rule in 3CX is set so that call goes to you SIP hardphone - you will see the Skype account name on phone screen and can identify the Skype caller!


Conclusion



I intentionally not considered SkypeOUT dialing rules (SkypeOutDialingRules.props file) because, on my opinion, you will not deal with Skype in this case, but you will prefer "normal" SIP VoIP operator. It is far more native to 3CX Personally I can recommend http://www.justvoip.com and http://www.voxbone.com. Also I don't use Skype to SIP Pin authentication (SipOutDialingRules.props file) because it is useless in 3CX.

So now you can place Skype Me button on your Website and connect two worlds for your profit.

How to connect Skype to 3CX - [Part 2]

How the multichannel 3CX to Skype trunk works

First, you install Skype client on PC. Then you create some Windows users. Under each user you will
start individual Skype instance with its own Skype account. You must use different Windows users,
because of inability to start several Skype instances under the same Windows user.

After that you create several VoIP trunks in 3CX (equal to number of Skype accounts you plan to use).

But how to connect these trunks to Skype instances? For this purpose an addition to SipTheeSkype
was developed. It called
stsTrunkBuilder. This is a set of scripts and command files that installs
into the same folder where SipTheeSkype was placed. It uses data from
stsTrunkDef.cfg (you add
data to it) to generate the new set of command files (
bat) and configuration files (cfg) for each
SipTheeSkype trunk (channel).

Each of the generated
bat files start its own Skype instance under individual Windows user,
and its own SipTheeSkype, using
individual configuration file cfg for that trunk. So every
bat file start its own complete SipTheeSkype trunk. Note that every trunk use its own SIP
port for communications starting from port 5070 (5070, 5071, 5072 and so on).

You may create as many trunks as you want. This is limited only by your hardware capacity.
The author of SipTheeSkype has tested 20 trunks on standard P4 machine.

Creating multichannel trunk

1. Download and unzip
stsTrunkBuilder in the C:\ststrunkbuilder
2. Copy content of
C:\ststrunkbuilder (with subfolders) to the SipTheeSkype folder. In
Part 1 it was C:\siptheeskype. Copy content of C:\ststrunkbuilder\samples to C:\siptheeskype
also. Now we don't need
C:\ststrunkbuilder folder anymore.
3. Open in Notepad
C:\siptheeskype\stsTrunkDef.cfg file and change it as follows:

skypeUserList=first_Skype_account, second_Skype_account..., N_Skype_account - I
created these example accounts:
skype_3cx_trunk_1, skype_3cx_trunk_2, skype_3cx_trunk_3.

targetPlatform=windows - We are using stsTrunkBuilder on Windows platform

stsBaseConfigFile
=/siptheeskype/siptheeskype.cfg - Name of the folder were the main
SipTheeSkype configuration file,
siptheeskype.cfg, be found. We created it in Part1.

passwordSeed=makeupsomethinghere Do not change! Password(s) for SipTheeSkype trunks
that you creating (
Authentication Password in 3CX) will be generated automatically. Then
we simply will copy it to the Add VoIP provider wizard in 3CX.

trunkNameBase=stsTrunk_ Username mask (Authentication ID in 3CX) of the trunk. Then
we will simply copy them to the Add VoIP provider wizard in 3CX. You can change it, but you do
not have to. I have not changed it.

osUserBase=stsTrunk_ Windows username mask. You can change it, but you do not have to. I
have not changed it.
Important! If your do not change it, the users that you will create in Windows must have these names:
stsTrunk_01, stsTrunk_02...

Save and close
stsTrunkDef.cfg

4. Create as many Windows users as Skype "lines" you plan to use.
Important! The usernames
for these users must be
exactly same as usernames generated in Step 3. Also important that
all users will have passwords (
no blank passwords!), or stsTrunkBuilderscripts will produce
errors.

5. Run
C:\siptheeskype\trunkConfig_win.bat file. A group of files for each trunk (each Skype
account you listed in
skypeUserList in step 3) will be created in the C:\siptheeskype folder. For
example for first trunk these files are:

stsTrunk_01_start.bat - trunk start

stsTrunk_01_stop.bat - trunk stop

stsTrunk_01.cfg - trunk settings (based on siptheeskype.cfg, we created in Part 1)

stsTrunk_01_log.properties - trunk logging settings.

Mainly we will use the
start and stop files.

6. Create required number of 3CX VoIP Providers as explained in
Part 1 Important! When
you are creating providers, use for
SIP Server port, Authentication ID and
Authentication Password corresponding values from corresponding SipTheeSkype trunk
settings.
For example, to take these values for
third 3CX trunk (VoIP provider), open in Notepad
stsTrunk_03.cfg
file and search for strings host_port, username and passwd. Copy and paste
these values into the 3CX Add VoIP Provider Wizard.

7. Using generated
start command files (stsTrunk_01_start.bat, stsTrunk_02_start.bat...) start SipTheeSkype trunks in turn.
The startup process will ask for user password for respective user and start SipTheeSkype and Skype
under that user's profile. The script will save user password in the user profile so you will not need
to enter it next time.
For each Skype instance allow access for
java.exe ans set Speed Dial Numbers as described in Part 1.



8. To start all the trunks simultaneously use stsTrunkStartAll_win.bat. To stop the trunks use
corresponding files with
stop string.

Using multichannel trunk

The multichannel trunk we created working as "hunt group". The inbound calls from Skype network
goes to the first (
main) Skype account.
If this account is "busy", the SipTheeSkype software will switchover this call to next Skype account
until it found the "free" account. If there are no more free accounts, the Skype network caller will
receive "busy" tone.



From 3CX (SIP) side the system works also as "hunt group" but the switchover made by 3CX Outbound
rules. The Outbound rule tries to take the first Skype trunk (
Route 1). If it is "busy", it will try to take
the second trunk (
Route 2) and so on.

Therefore if you have
no more than three trunks, you have to configure only the first Outbound
rule (for first 3CX - Skype trunk). Thats all.

If your have
more than three trunks, I would recommend to configure routes in Outbound rules
as follows:

    First rule - Routes 1,2,3 Second fule - Routes 2,3,4 Third rule - Routes 3,4,5
...and so on.

Conclusion

To start all your trunks automatically after the server startup, simply create New task in Windows
Scheduler that run
stsTrunkStartAll_win.bat file at computer startup. Screenshot for Russian
Windows, but you understood me.

Type the associated Skype™ account and password, CHECK the option “Sign me in when Skype starts” and UNCHECK the option “Start Skype when computer starts”, then sign in. Once you signed in, the splash will show “Pending authorization”.
Skype will ask you to “allow 3CXSkypegateway.exe”, click the “Allow access” button.
The dialog will now display “Configured as…” with the Skype account you’ve set, and the Done button becomes enabled. By clicking it, the Skype™ client will close and the port is considered Skype-configured!
Step 4: Starting the 3CX Gateway Service
The Gateway service is responsible for registering with 3CX Phone System, handling of calls to and from Skype, and Signing in with the Skype ID’s associated with each channel. Click on the Start Button on the right hand side of the 3CX GFS to start the gateway service.
Immediately you will see that the PORT ID 10000 is registered with the 3CX Phone System and the solid Green LED status is shown in the Port column. Status: Online
Congratulations – you have successfully configured the 3CX Gateway for Skype.

NOTE - Audio Hardware required for 3CX Skype Gateway You must have audio hardware for the Skype Gateway to function, because the Skype Client requires audio hardware to function.
Note also that when you connect to a machine using RDP, the RDP client creates a virtual sound card on the machine you are connecting to. This virtual sound card emulates speakers, but sometimes will not emulate microphone - especially with older servers or RDP clients. So you could expect to have 1-way audio when making 3CX Skype Gateway calls when connected to the machine using RDP.
The best way to avoid this is to change your RDP client (mstsc.exe) options before connecting to avoid this problem. To do this, before connecting, in your RDP client go to the "Local Resources" tab, and in the "Remote Audio" section, click on the "Settings" button. In the "Remote audio playback" section, select "Play on remote computer". In the "Remote audio recording" section, select "Do not record".

Configuring Sip to Skype gateway - 3CX Gateway for Skype [Part 1]

Pre-requisites:

The following pre-requisites are needed for the 3CX gateway for Skype to operate:
1. Skype version 4.1.0.179 or above is required.
2. The Skype Client must be installed on the same machine as 3CX Gateway for Skype. Skype can be downloaded from here: http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/windows/
3. 3CX Gateway for Skype must be installed on the same machine as 3CX Phone System. You can download 3CX Gateway for Skype from here: http://www.3cx.com/downloads/3CXGatewayforSkype2.msi
4. Audio drivers must be installed and configured correctly – this is a Skype pre-requisite.
5. 3CX Phone System Version 7.1.7137 or higher is required
6. The 3CX Gateway for Skype was tested on the following operating systems Windows XP, Vista 32/64 bit, server 2003 32/64bit, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7.
7. Known issues in the Skype client:
a. Display status on ringing will show green on multiple incoming calls
b. The Skype client does not appear to be 100% stable on Windows 2008 which obviously effects 3CX Gateway for Skype
8. 3CX Gateway for Skype can not be installed on a domain controller



Part 1: 3CX Management Console Gateway creation

Step 1: Add a Skype PSTN gateway from the 3CX Management Console
Create a PSTN gateway from the 3CX Management Console. Click on Add Pstn Gateways, select the 3CX Gateway for Skype template and specify a name for this gateway.
Step 2: Configure IP, and Port for 3CX to communicate to the 3CX Skype Gateway
Specify the Gateway, Hostname and IP of the machine where 3CX Gateway for Skype will be installed. Because the 3CX gateway for Skype will be installed on the same machine, specify 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and port is 6060.
Important : When creating additional 3CX Gateway for Skype ports you must increment the port by 2. For example: the second gateway must have 6062 set.
Step 3: Creating the port for the 3CX Gateway for Skype
Take note of the details presented in this page and click Next to proceed. These details will be needed when creating a Skype Channel in 3CX gateway for Skype to enable it to register to 3CX Phone System.
Step 4: Outbound rule creation
Create an outbound rule for this Skype Gateway with a prefix.



Part 2: 3CX Gateway for Skype Configuration instructions


Now download 3CX Gateway for Skype package from the following link. After the installation steps have been completed, clicking Finish on the last screen will open the initial window that will enable you to start the configuration for the Skype Gateway.
Step 1: Creating of windows user accounts.
Each Skype gateway created in the Management console needs a corresponding Skype channel. Each channel created in turn needs to have
• Skype ID
• A newly created Windows User account associated with it. This Windows User account cannot be an already existing account - it will be created by 3CX Gateway for Skype.
Now Click Create. Enter the 3CX Hostname or IP. In this case the 3CX GFS will be installed on the same machine so you can enter localhost or 127.0.0.1
All Channels created will need a separate Windows User Account to operate under. In the computer account settings section you can configure a prefix for computer accounts that will be created every time you create a new Skype™ port. If, for instance, the prefix is 3cxskypeacc, accounts will be created as 3cxskypeacc01, 3cxskypeacc02 and so on.
